More Mitts!

After a very hot September (30°C just two weekends ago) the weather has turned chilly. I have to spend many hours in front of my pc to work at my final essay and my hands get cold easily, so... I made myself a pair of mittens!

Pattern: Cafe au Lait Mitts by Paula McKeever on Ravelry
Needles: 3.75 mm (US 5)
Yarn: Bertagna Filati Gioia Baby in red (1 skein)

I love these mitts: the colour, the pattern, the softness of the yarn... Maybe a bit challenging in the crosshatch pattern (I had to unravel some rows and start again, and again, and again), but a nice pattern.

Current Project: Mitts!

After my first "serious" knit project (remember the striped cotton cowl?) I decided to experiment knitting. So, after a cowl/scarf I knitted a pair of fingerless mittens.

Pattern: Susie's Reading Mitts by Janelle Masters on Ravelry
Needles: 3.75 mm (US 5)
Yarn: Titan Wool Winner in grey (1 skein) + Titan Wool Zaffiro in white (for the motif)

It was my first try with double pointed needles and I have to admit it was quite a challenge at the beginning!
First of all, I did not have sock needles, I looked everywhere but I was not able to find it in any shop in my area (people in yarn shops told me they didn't keep them because nobody buys them anymore). Of course I could have ordered them online, but I wanted to start immediately (knit fever!). I was rummaging in the kitchen and casually found bamboo skewers... an idea popped in my mind and I turned three skewers in six double pointed needles. Et voilà - my brand new bamboo needles! They are approx. 3.5 - 3.75 mm (US 5), just perfect for this project.

I added a snowflake motif just like Lucia777, who was so kind to share the chart (thanks!!!).

They're very soft and warm, a bit too long than expected, but really nice to wear. Unfortunately my sister literally "stole" them from my knit basket ("Did you knit these??? Gorgeous, I'll take them!")... well, I'll just knit another pair of mittens! I really like these patterns:
